I am a Minnesota transplant.  I moved here after meeting my husband John while vacationing in Cancun, Mexico.  We have been married over 30 years and have two delightful married daughters.  After working in the corporate world for several years, I chose to be a stay-at-home mom to my two daughters.  While parenting my girls, the neighbors called me the “Comfort Queen”.  They could always count on me to have the Band-aids, ointment, cold packs, extra mittens and a listening ear

I enjoy hiking the Minnesota trails, traveling, gardening, yoga, photography and playing games (especially cribbage and dominoes) with family and friends.

Why I became a Doula?

Initially, my compassion for people led me to many enjoyable years of caring for the elderly and nannying children of all ages.  My desire to connect with people on a deeper level inspired me to pursue a career as a Doula and Life Coach.  Both of these careers have personally fulfilled a calling in me.

Being a doula is very gratifying for me.  It is especially rewarding to provide comforting support to you and your partner during your very emotional birthing journey.

What Do I have to Offer?

Physical Comfort

My doula bag has massage items, a rebozo, a TENS unit, therapeutic-grade essential oils and a few surprises.  Trained in “Spinning Babies”, I’ll suggest positions and exercises during pregnancy that assist in optimal baby positioning, prepare your body to birth your child and relieve pressure during birthing time.

Emotional Comfort

As a Hypno-Doula, I will use comforting and soothing language to help establish the peaceful environment in which you would like to give birth.  The use of positive affirmations, visual imagery and deep relaxation techniques leads to minimizing stress during birth and ultimately an empowering childbirth experience.

Amateur Photography

As an amateur photographer I candidly and respectfully capture the tender moments of your labor and birth if you wish.  I will note any specific preferences for photos during our prenatal visits.

In the photograph is Baby O with his mom Emma after her peaceful birth.

As your doula I will be your “Comfort Queen”
